Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. This week is for us all to take a stand for our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education with the ultimate goal being the creation of drug free America. Red Ribbon Week has been observed in every school I've taught in and is still ongoing. Each year has a different theme and there are dress up days with events and assemblies to get the kids' attention  While I was at the elementary school this afternoon, they were having an assembly with some of the Houston Rockets talking to the kids about drugs, as well as performing tricks for their entertainment. It's a super program, especially since they start it in kindergarten. Obviously it doesn't help them all, but it sure doesn't hurt and I believe in the long run, it saves lives.
